Jammu & Kashmir Board

The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education was established to co -ordinate with the Government about the policies applied for elementary education, examinations and related fields. The Board came into existences in 1975 under the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education Act, 1975. This Board was set up to understand the basic educational needs of the state, and based on that, it revises the syllabus and also takes the required steps.

The Board carries the responsibility of spreading education for the development of the state and the younger generation, as well. It provides quality education, the required infrastructure and a supportive environment to fulfill the aspirations of the youth. The Board inspires students to develop their potential. It promotes equal opportunities for all students, and also encourages deprived communities to gain knowledge. Since its inception, the Board has been discovering the academic talent in students. The Board plays a vital role in improving the standard of living of the local populace by improving the quality of education.


The Board successfully regulates and develops the education in the state. It conducts the examinations for SSC, HSC, ETTC, D.Ed and SOS. The Board offers an updated syllabus to students with a view to enable them to get ready for varied occupational opportunities. The Board examines candidates, and based on their performance, it provides certificates. The Board also introduces several motivating activities to enliven the students' learning experience.

The Functions of the Boards are :

 

  • The Board prescribes the required course and relevant curriculum. It publishes the required text books for the Secondary Exams and the the Higher Secondary Exams.

  • For the Textbooks, the Board looks after the editing and printing work, as well.

  • The Board conducts public examinations for the Secondary and the Higher Secondary level.

  • After completion of the Exams, the Board publishes the result for each class.

  • After completion of the exams, the Board grants diplomas and certificates to the qualified candidates.

  • The Board provides recognition to the Institutes, and guides the Institutes in maintaining their administrative work.

  • The Board withdraws recognition for not following the rules and regulations made under the J & K State Board of School Education Act, 1975.

  • The Board controls and supervises the administrative work and the funds the property allotted for the educational purpose by the state Government.

  • The Board maintains the acknowledged donations, trusts, endowments and others.

  • The Board is involved in promoting the Social and Cultural welfare of students in recognized schools.

  • The Board inspires talented students by giving prizes and scholarships.

  • The Board successfully co-ordinates between the national and state level policies and maintains a proper balance with general and vocational courses. A correspondence between the Higher Secondary education and the elementary education is maintained by this Board.

  • The Board conducts research to provide well- structured curriculum and content.

  • The Board includes population education in its curriculum.

  • The Board maintains diverse learning resources and maintains the teacher and student support system


Examinations :

The Board conducts the Annual and Bi-Annual Examination every year. The Board monitors the Secondary School exam, the Higher Secondary School Exam (Part-I & Part-II), Diploma in Elementary Education, Certificate course in Physical Education. The Boards leads the examination for both Regular and Private candidates. The admission forms of the examination for regular candidates are available at the institute and Private candidates can collect their admission form from the Board Office or Registered book sellers. The specified fees are available on the official website.

Examination Fee :

The Candidate needs to pay specified examination fee for each examination.

The following fees are specified to be paid by the students:

 

  • Admission Fee

  • Additional Subject/s fee

  • Examination Fee for English

  • Fees to be paid to Amanuensis

  • Completion of examination fee


Physically handicapped students who are 50% disabled are exempt from these fees. Blind and Deaf candidates are also exempt from this fees.
